Buyers Beware when Buying Trampoline

February 27th, 2010

Do NOT buy trampolines that comes with Polyethylene (PE) safety pads!!! It will cause you much trouble and heartache within 12months of purchase. PE safety pads is like tarpauline. The material is very thin and its the worst kind of padding there is in the trampoline market. It comes standard with many cheap trampolines purchase, except for Jumparama Trampolines and some other companies.

Any trampoline owner who had purchased a trampoline that comes with cheap safety pads can tell you this:

  1. The PE material breaksdown in the sun after 6months of using or owning the trampoline.
  2. If you have children that jump on or run around the PE pads, you will find that the lifetime shortens even more
  3. These pads are cheap, but they are not good value because they don’t last long and are not safe.
  4. The PE material breaks down into small peices and scatters the backyard and over the childrens body making a mess everywhere.

There are countless of complaints to trampoline companies that sell these cheap pads because they don’t tell buyers what kind of replacement costs they are up for. Its rediculous to buy a trampoline that is not safe after 6 months. Parents should be made aware that they do get what they pay for. So do your research today. Sun Damage to Trampoline Mats

November 27th, 2009

Bouncing on the trampoline is great fun for adults and kids all year round. Compared to many toys around the house, the trampoline is one of the best play equipment ever invented. With regular use bouncing on the trampoline mat, you will find that one day it will wear out and start breaking. This is when you need to look into getting some trampoline replacements or repairs to the trampoline.

One of the issues Australians have to face is the high UV damage that affects all outdoor toys. Even the best quality trampolines can be affected by Sun Damage overtime. Although trampoline mats are durable in nature and are made to be outside in the weather, the intense UV rays can eventually rot the fabic of the trampoline mat. These rotten places on the trampoline mat can eventually turn into holes when someone is jumping on the trampoline.

To protect your trampoline from weathering, you should store the trampoline under a shady area and place a weather cover or tarpaulin cover over the trampoline when it is not in use. Covering the trampoline will protect it from the sun, dirt, animal droppings and other debris. If you already have a small hole (less than 2.5cm diameter), try using duct tape to cover the areas. If the trampoline mat hole is larger, then you will need to replace the entire mat immediately. For safety reasons, don’t let anyone on the trampoline until the trampoline jumping mat is replaced.

If you are looking for a trampoline mat, check out Jumparama trampolines as they are one of the largest carriers of round replacement mats in Australia. You will need to measure the diameter of your existing mat and count the number of springs it holds to source the correct replacement trampoline mat. Buying Round Trampoline Mats

November 20th, 2009

The trampoline mats are usually the black jumping area at the centre part of the trampoline. The trampoline mat does not include the padding that goes over the springs. Generally trampoline mats require restitching every 2-3 years depending on how much it gets used. These days its hard to find businesses that restitch trampoline mats. Also the cost of restitching the mat is nearly the same cost as buying a new trampoline mat. So if you decide to buy new trampoline mats, there are 2 measurements you need to know.

  1. What is the diameter of the the mat? To measure the diameter, get a measuring tape and run from the edge of the black mat where the stitching is (exclude the v-straps and v-rings in the measurement), across the centre of the mat to the other edge of the mat. Get the largest measurement in millimetres. To confirm your diameter measurement, take 1-2 steps around the trampoline and take the same measurement again.
  2. How many springs does your old mat hold? count the number of springs around the mat. Becareful not to double count some springs. If you have lost some springs or thrown the old mat away, then count the number of holes in the round metal frame.

Tips To Buying A New Trampoline

November 20th, 2009

If you live in Australia and you have children, you must have a trampoline in your backyard. Trampolines have been around for many generations and its one of those toys you got to have when you are growing up. But how do you choose a trampoline that is right for you?

Here are a few tips you need to know when buying trampolines:

  1. No matter how big your trampoline is, only one person is allowed on the trampoline at one time. So don’t ask youself the question of how many kids can I load on this trampoline, because you should only have 1 on at anytime.
  2. You must have mature adult supervision when a child is jumping on the trampoline to make sure the jumper is obeying all the safety rules.
  3. Trampoline’s over 50cm height should only be used for ages 6 years and up.
  4. Measure your backyard and make sure you can have 150cm clearance around the trampoline. Don’t get a trampoline that is too big.
  5. Get an internal safety enclosure net on your trampoline. With an internal safety net, jumpers are less likely to hit the poles and land on the safety pads over the springs.
  6. For longer lasting protection spring safety pads, make sure the trampoline includes 0.55mm Duro-vinyl material with at least 25mm foam thickness inside. This will save you on expensive safety pad replacements in 1-2 years time.

With these six points in mind you can be confident in choosing the right trampoline for you. For more information on premium enclosed trampoline, visit our website at www.comfortinnovations.com.au

Trampoline Mats

November 12th, 2009

How long do you expect your trampoline mats to last?

If you keep your trampoline in the best condition, you can prolong the life of the trampoline mat and maintain its performance. Here are some helpful tips that you can use to keep your trampoline mat in good condition.

  • Place the trampoline in a shaded area, preferably under a shade sail or under a big tree where the sun doesn’t shine on the trampoline throughout the entire day.
  • Keep a weather cover over the trampoline when its not in use.
  • If you don’t plan to use your trampoline for a long time, then store it away out of the weather as much as possible. You can consider storing it in a shed when going on a long vacation, when your renovating or even when your kids are tired of jumping around.
  • If you plan put the trampoline (rectangular trampolines, not round) on the side fence, make sure it is secure so it cannot fall or be pulled down by young kids.
  • Never use cleaning products such as detergent, soup or other chemical solvents to clean the mat surface because this will affect the durability and life of the trampoline mat.
  • Use cold water to clean the trampoline mat if the rain has not done it for you.

Most trampoline mats (black jumping area of the trampoline) are made from polypropyleen mesh. This material has an average lifespan of 8-10 years. The thread used to stitch around the edge of the mat has a lifespan of 2-3 years. The high UV rays from the Australian Sun will eventually break down the thread and you will notice this as the stitching begins to unravell. This is when you need to remove the mat and get it re-stiched.

On an average life of the trampoline mat, you will expect 2-3 restitches provided that it has not been subjected to abnormal use or abuse. If you cannot find anyone to restitch the mat, then the easiest thing to do is to purchase a new trampoline mat. You will need to measure the diameter of the mat and count the number of springs your mat holds. The trampoline company Comfort Innovations, holds many different round trampoline mats and their prices and information are listed online at www.comfortinnovations.com.au

When your trampoline mat has served its time on the trampoline, don’t throw it away. You can re-use the trampoline mat by in the garden by placing it under chip barks, rubbles etc.

Trampolines from eBay

November 7th, 2009

You can save money from buying trampolines from eBay initially. The trampolines are auctioned online and there some real good bargains. There are a few things you need to know when buying from an auction online.

1. Check their warranty. Depending on the state you live in there is no statutory warranty on any products purchased on an online auction. You get what you paid for. But if they advertise their warranty terms online, then the seller must comply. Otherwise expect no warranty from the sellers. On eBay, many sellers advertise "5 year structural warranty." Be very careful what they mean by the word "structural" and check with the seller on how they define that word. The trampoline parts that normally breakdown first is usually the pads, net and mat. You would want warranty on those parts. Generally the trampoline steel metal frame can last for many years.

2. The shipping price on eBay is very expensive and usually you cannot pick up from their warehouse. You can get a bargain online, but if you must pay for delivery, the costs will add up quickly.

3. Quality vs. Cost. It is correct to say that you get what you pay for. The reason for a trampoline cost is because the specifications and material cost is low. Trampoline sellers are not going to make a continual loss selling trampolines below cost. They are smarter than that. So do your sums. If you are paying a low price for your trampoline and the trampoline sellers are still selling, chances are you bought a low quality trampoline. The difference in the high and low quality trampoline is the low quality trampoline breaks down earlier than the high quality trampoline. But thats ok because the money you saved initially can go towards getting better quality trampoline parts.

Trampoline Quality vs Trampoline Cost Buyers Beware!

October 30th, 2009

Replacing trampoline parts are expensive especially when there is many worned parts of the trampoline that has not been replaced. The bigger your trampoline the more expensive the trampoline replacement cost compared to smaller trampolines. There are also different quality replacement parts you can choose from. Of course, the better quality parts eg. Duro-vinyl safety pads, will bemore expensive than the PE or tarpaulin safety pads.

Some trampoline owners may have bought their trampoline for a very low price, not realising the quality of the trampoline parts are not built to last. So when it comes to replacing damaged trampoline parts, they will find it as expensive as buying a whole new trampoline. What you need to realise is you get what you pay for. If you have paid only $300 for a trampoline, chances are the quality of the trampoline is not as good compared to a $500 trampoline for example. For a cheap quality trampoline you can be up for replacements much earlier than a better quality trampolines. However stress and headache of a broken arm or leg is more costly than replacement parts.

Buyers need to beware of the costs involved with owning a trampoline and not assume that it will last for many years to come. Trampolines will only last as long as the users take care and look after it. That includes replacing necessary trampoline replacement parts and following the safety and maintenance procedures. Without sensible adult supervision you will find kids doing silly things like jumping or climbing on the safety net etc. As kids (especially boys) grow up, you will find they take bigger risks, so parents must pay more attention to them and educate them on the do’s and don’ts. Failure to obey instructions can lead to paying costly trampoline replacement parts and potential accidents.

At Comfort Innovations we educate consumers about trampoline quality so they don’t get decieved in buying an inferior product that is much cheaper. We let then know the quality of our trampolines compared with other brands and what to look out for. Replace Damaged Trampoline Parts

October 30th, 2009

It is the responsibility of the trampoline owner to replace worned or damaged trampoline parts. Over time or much use of the trampoline can result to early deterioration of the trampoline pads, nets, springs, mats etc. Trampoline users must regularly check the trampoline to ensure that it is safe to use. If a certain trampoline part is damaged, action must be taken to replace or repair before it gets used. Trampoline owners (usually the parents) have a duty of care to ensure that trampoline users (usually the kids) can use the trampoline safely at all times.

When there is a damaged part that requires repair or replacement, parents should stop their kids from using the trampoline until the trampoline part in question is fixed or replaced. Unfortunately, there are cases where children still bounce on the trampoline with worned and damaged parts and this results in an accident is waiting to happen. For example, the trampoline safety pads that cover the springs has deteriorated over the years and it has got to the stage it cannot be used. The trampoline safety pad is then removed and the kids are still jumping on the trampoline without safety pads. The chances are high that little legs or arms can get caught between the springs when children looses balance on the trampoline and land on the frame area. Many hospitalisation could be prevented if trampoline safety pads are replaced in time.

Comfort Innovations are one of the largest suppliers of trampoline parts in Australia. For more information on trampolines products and safety, please visit our website at www.comfortinnovations.com.au
